Audit

# Understand first, build second. Two weeks to find out where it pays off.

You know something has to change, but not yet what. We look at your processes, systems and data, find the places where little effort achieves a lot, and tell you what should come next. You can implement it with us or without us.

- For whom

For teams that know something has to change, but not yet what.

- Duration

  Two weeks

- Outcome

Baseline in numbers, action roadmap, architecture sketch, next step

An audit is worth it when several processes are affected and nobody in-house has time to work through them.

## Proven in these projects

- 6 apps

out, plus the translation subscription. The monthly licence cost is gone

## Week one listening, week two calculating.

1. 1

   ### Week 1: Mapping

Interviews with the people involved, walking through processes together, taking stock of systems, sampling data. Along the way we measure the baseline, so every later step can be measured against it. We need the people, not just the data.

2. 2

   ### Week 2: Assessment

For each idea: effort, impact, feasibility and risks. For the most promising step we sketch the architecture.

3. 3

   ### Readout

Two hours with your leadership: results, questions and decisions, all in writing. Then you decide how to proceed.

## A document your team can work with.

Not an 80-slide consulting deck, but a document that says what to do, in what order, and why.

- ### Baseline in numbers

Measured current values instead of estimates. Depending on the topic: lead time and manual steps per case, error rate, load time and technical scores in the shop, or review effort for AI ideas. Every later step can be measured against them.

- ### Action roadmap

Sorted by effort and impact. Each action with a rough size and a place in the timeline.

- ### Architecture sketch

Data flows, components and interfaces for the first step. Clear enough for your IT.

- ### Next step

10-day pilot, product build or nothing for now. Named concretely, with reasons.

## What you can rely on.

- ### Fixed amount

Before the start you get a fixed amount for the scope agreed in writing. We only charge more if you commission additional work. Third-party costs, such as hosting or AI, are listed separately in the offer.

For businesses only. The written offer sets out the details, and your statutory rights remain in place.

## Common questions

How is it billed?

Flat fee, not by the hour. Before the start you get a written offer with scope and a fixed amount. How much it is depends on the scope and is clear after the first call.

How does the audit start?

With a 30-minute call. We clarify scope, who needs to be involved and data access. After that you get a written offer, before any work begins.

Who needs to be involved on our side?

Usually management, the IT lead and operations, plus one or two owners of the processes in question. That's three to five hours per person over the two weeks.

Do we have to continue with you afterwards?

No. The audit stands on its own. You can implement the results yourself, with someone else or with us.

How do you handle our data?

We sign the data processing agreement before we start. Hosting is in the EU only, and on your own servers if you prefer.

When is the 10-day pilot the better start?

When the question is already concrete. The audit pays off when it's still unclear where to start.

Is the audit about AI?

Only where it helps. Many handovers don't need AI, just an interface and a rule. We recommend AI where information sits in free text, PDFs or emails, or has to be classified. Where rules are enough and where AI does more is covered in our article with examples by area. [AI process optimization](https://kevinludwig.com/en/blog/process-optimization-with-ai)

Why start with a diagnosis?

Many AI projects don't fail at execution but at picking the problem. The audit first asks which workflows move a number that shows up in your P\&L. Two weeks of diagnosis cost less than months of development in the wrong direction.

## From audit to the next step.

After the audit you have a roadmap and know what comes next. Usually it's one of these two:

- [10-Day Pilot When it's clear where the problem is, but not yet whether the solution holds up](https://kevinludwig.com/en/leistungen/pilot)
- [Product Build When the requirements are clear and you're ready to start](https://kevinludwig.com/en/leistungen/umsetzung)

You get either as a written offer. You can build it with us or with someone else.

## More on specific topics

- ### [AI consulting, Stuttgart region](https://kevinludwig.com/en/leistungen/ai-consulting-stuttgart)

AI consulting in Stuttgart, Reutlingen and Tübingen. With software, not slides.

- ### [Shopify](https://kevinludwig.com/en/leistungen/shopify-development)

Shopify stores that load fast and don't depend on a pile of apps.

## Where should you start?

After a 30-minute call we both know whether an audit is the right start or whether we should build right away.
